Mumps, Measles and Rubella

The purpose of this blog is to discuss and inform about infectious diseases. As part of an access to nursing course I am currently undertaking and for personal interest, I would like to invite any discussion surrounding this topic. The first infectious diseases I am looking at are mumps, measles and rubella and the combined current vaccination.

    Hi Caroline,

    I also researched the MMR vaccination and was amazed at the severity of Measles, Mumps and Rubella. I think that because these conditions have been managed effectively for such a long time, people are now complacent in their attitudes to them and no longer understand the importance of vaccinating their children against them. Perhaps the adverse publicity which resulted from Dr Andrew Wakefield's unsubstantiated autism/ bowel disease claims damaged the public's trust in the vaccination.I would like to see a large scale media campaign launched to educate and encourage people to take up the MMR vaccination. I would be interested to know if anyone else shares my view.
